Mara
Martínez
is one of the members of Suroma.
Among
her most outstanding works we can list:
-With the choreographer Javier Latorre and the Córdoba
orchestra directed by Leo Brouwer in the Gran teatro of
Córdoba.
-Several zarzuelas under the directorship of Inmaculada
Aguilar among which “Los Gavilanes” stands out.
-In 1996 she took part in the first international congress
of dance in the professional conservatory of dance under
the direction of José Granero and Juanjo Linares.
-She was chosen by José Antonio in audition to collaborate
with the Ballet Andaluz for the inauguration of the Royal
Theatre of Madrid.
-She was a member for four years of Antonio
Canales company,with whom she interpreted:
-"Torero"
-"A Cuerda y Tacón", as soloist
-"Gitano"
-"Bengues"
-"Cenicienta", in on eof the major roles
-Took
part in the closing gala of the “Madrid en Danza”
festival at the Albéniz theatre along with Antonio
Canales and Juan de Juan in the choreography “El
Polo”.
-In September 2000 she participated with Antonio Canales during
the Bienal de Sevilla in the work “Bailaor”.
-In 2001 she accompanied the singer Tito Beltrán in
London’s great Royal Albert Hall.
-She was a member of Paco Peña’s
company as soloist in “Flamenco” and participated
in “Musa Gitana”.
-Has performed alongside outstanding figures of flamenco such
as Juan Andrés Maya
and Alejandro Granados.
-performances with the singers “Guadiana” and
Montse Cortés.
-In 1999 she formed her own group Suroma
with whom she has performed in various theatres and venues
in Madrid and Barcelona.
-In 2002 she worked with Vicente Amigo
in the inauguration of the plaza de la Corredera in Cordoba.
-She is currently a member of Rafael
Amargo’s company as repetidor and choreographer
in the works “Amargo” and “Poeta en Nueva
York”.
-With Javier Latorre’s company she interpreted “Rinconete
y Cortadillo”.
-She participated in the recording of the flamenco pianist
Juan Cortés in the track entitled “Del Mar”.
-In 1994 she made a recording for Canal Sur television channel’s
programme “Noches Flamencas”
-In 1997 she starred in a report for German TV entitled “A
ti Carmen”.
