Mariano Martos

Studied at the Escuela Superior de Jazz Walter Malossetti and with Bucky Arcella in Buenos Aires (Argentina), in the Estudio escola de música in Santiago de Compostela, Flamenco Bass with Carles Benavent (from Paco de Lucía’s band) and flamenco with Rafael Cañizares in Barcelona.

He has done session work with different producers and studios and has collaborated with:
Flamenco: Rafael and Juan Manuel Cañizares, Duquende, Miguel Poveda, Blas Córdoba, Kiflus, Juan Gómez (Chicuelo),
Enrique Morente, Joan Albert Amargos, Guillermo Mc.Guill, Antonio Serrano, and Domingo Patricio, among others.
Afrocuban Music: Carlos Caro and Sabor Cubano.
Tango: Trío Argentino de Tango, Marcelo Mercadante.
Others: Omar Gianmarco, Santiago Vázquez.

He has formed part of the Marcos Teira Cuarteto (Flamenco), the Orquesta IBA conducted by Agustí Fernández, the “Martí Perramon-Ektal ensemble” led by Martí Perramon, the group “El Cholo”, led by Pablo Schvarzman. He performs with:
“MBM” (Jazz Trio) group, the “Triángulo do Mar” (Portuguese-language music, Brazil, Portugal, Angola, Cabo Verde), “Pa’lo Flamenco” (trio flamenco), “Bumba” (Galician- Mozambican music). “Animales domesticos” (Jazz-Funk trio), collaborates with the group led by Nan Mercader and Ángel Pereira “Cajón Manía”, “Mozambando” (music from Mozambic) led by Tchica and João Balão, and is also leader of his own group “Martos en Banda”.

Mariano has given masterclasses in flamenco bass for the Jazz Club of the Seville University, the San Francisco Community Center (U.S.A), in the 26th International seminary Taller de Musics, in the Municipal school of Avellaneda (Argentina), in the Sadem (Argentina) among others, and teaches traditional bass and flamenco in the Taller de Músics de Barcelona.

He is the founder of the artistic productions called “Mama producciones”,
Has a solo CD with his own compositions called “Un compás antes que suene el despertador”.
