Juan Fernández Gálvez, known as Juan Parrilla,was born in Jerez de la Frontera (Cadiz, Spain) in 1968.He began playing the
flute at the age of 13 at Conservatory of Jerez. Afterwards he moved to Madrid and carried on his flute studies as a pupil
of Andrés Carréres,who was a soloist of the ONE (Spanish National Orchestra). Juan Parrilla belongs to a prominent family
of flamenco artists and musicians. Some of the family members are his great-grandfather ‘Tío Juanichi el Manijero’, his
grandfather ‘Tío Parrilla’, his aunt “Ana Parrilla” grate dancer, his uncle Lorenzo Galvez “Ripoll” cantaor, his uncle Fernando
Galvez cantaor, his father ‘Juan Parrilla’, his uncle ‘Parrilla de Jerez’ –a notable flamenco guitarist- and his brothers Manuel–guitarist- and Bernardo –violinist-.
Juan has collaborated with a large number of flamenco artists like Manolo Sanlúcar,
